I was afflicted with my disease at the age of six. I never let it affect me. I had a surgeon malpractice on me and do six surgeries that he said were for a broken cheek bone.
At the age of fourteen, I met a wonderful doctor in Daytona, Florida named Dr. Slade. I had three more surgeries, and looked great.
I went off and played college football in Miami and now I am going to law school in Chicago. I have met many people, learned many great life lessons in my twenty-four years here on earth. I don't want to say I never asked God for better cards, but I always thank God for the breath in my lungs, the sun over my head, and I can see it, and live it. If my life ended tomorrow I would have no regrets, I could be way worse off.
We were who were, when we got here. We could try and change, but that’s just “TOP LAYER”. I learned this past year that life can be taken from you in an instance and you should never take it for granted. I now find myself wanting a successful life that isn't determined on who has the most money, but who has the riches of good family and friends.
I still hope to try my hand in politics. I would like to one day run for state senator, and then possibly a run for governor of Florida. I would like to be a candidate who isn't run by big companies, but runs in hope of helping the people who need help the most, the children, the elderly and the poverty-stricken. I feel now more then ever that it is more important to leave a positive impact on this world, and leave this world better than when God brought me into it.
I sure hope I can achieve all of these lofty goals during my stay here on earth, and if I don't, maybe I can inspire those people who can make a change, and make things better for the human race.
Anyone who wants to contact me, I am more than welcome and accommodating. We are 450 strong in this group and need to collectively be a powerful voice. I wish more than anything we could come together and find a cure.
God Bless,
Josh
